By sitting in the front of computers, children are able to learn in a funny and interesting way how to handle vast amounts of information on internet. On the other side, it’s interactivity and increased opportunities for communication, increased risk for all users, mostly children. Parents are put into hard position since their children know more about computers than they do and, among other things, children are growing up in a virtual world that is a lot different from what they know. Educational role of parents became more complex now and challenges them to give sense of security to children, too. Parental fears arise from one side of the unknown, but on the other hand they are eligible. Although the child’s computer is not in its room does not mean that it is not in danger. It is necessary to warn parents and children about possible dangers and inform them about safe ways to use Internet. Like all tools, the Internet has its advantages and disadvantages.

Some of the advantages of the Internet are:

• Quick access to information, learning
• easy and quickly view of current news
• a source of entertainment, such as playing games with others on the web
• to communicate, no matter where we are
• exchange of experiences, views and information with peers and adults with similar interests or problems
• children and young people improve the skills of writing – writing is the dominant way for users to talk over the Internet
• encourage the development of creativity
Developing strategies to solve problems and select information

Some of the dangers of modern forms of communication are:

• Exposure to inappropriate sexual content
• Internet – a new playground accessible to pedophiles
• exposure to disturbing and hostile messages
• possible excessive isolation of children and young people because of frequent and / or prolonged use of the Internet

Besides all that it should be noted that electronic violence includes any form of multi-salt messages via the Internet, aiming to offend, upset or in any other way affect the child, youth or adults who could not be protected from such actions.

It may be in the form of text or video messages, photos or call. Includes the unprincipled approach to harmful content, the spread of violent and derogatory comments about the peer, creating web pages that contain stories, drawings, pictures and jokes about peers, “breaking” in other people’s e-mail addresses, sending malicious content, sexual recruitment….

There are specific features of electronic violence that distinguish it from violence in direct proportion, as follows:

• it can be present 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
• exposure both at home and in places that were previously safe for children
• audience and witnesses can be numerous and they are rapidly increasing
• anonymity enhances the feeling of insecurity among the victims
• electronic abuse may be present among peers
• No physical contact with the victim and the audience, children and young people tend to see and understand the harm their words can cause, sometimes the messages that are sent as a joke can hurt, even though they do not intended to assault someone

After all, many parents are probably wondering how children can safely use the Internet. They ask themselves next questions: Should I block website and use internet filter?
